So how does CEO Dave Calhoun still have a job? Boeing said it is working closely with regulators’ investigations and has plans in place to improve safety measures at its production facilities. Boeing’s 737 Max problems would be egregious enough on its own. But Dave Calhoun, Boeing’s chief executive since 2020, remains in his job, as does the entire C-suite at the time of this writing. Boeing hired Calhoun to right the ship.

A former Boeing manager who raised safety questions about the aircraft maker has been found dead outside a hotel in South Carolina, according to local authorities. Police noted “the global attention this case has garnered.”Barnett was a longtime Boeing employee and worked as a quality-control manager before he retired in 2017. “He said that Boeing had a culture of concealment and was putting profits over safety.”Rodney Barnett said working at Boeing created stress for John. When they arrived, responding officers found Barnett in the driver’s seat of a truck in the parking lot, with a gunshot wound to the head. The police report also said there was a piece of paper found next to him that looked like a note. The BBC reported that Barnett was in Charleston for legal interviews and was scheduled for additional questioning on Saturday.

Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller told suspended football coach Mel Tucker Monday that he will be fired without compensation for misconduct involving activist and rape survivor Brenda Tracy. Eight months later, Tracy filed a complaint with the school’s Title IX office and the investigation was completed in July. A hearing is scheduled for the week of Oct. 5 to determine if Tucker violated the school’s sexual harassment and exploitation policy and a ruling could take up to 60 days. Michigan State paid her $10,000 to share her story with the football team. Michigan State hosts Maryland (3-0) on Saturday.

Thinx’s $5 million settlement over “forever chemicals” has unsettled some people who traded in pads and tampons for reusable period underwear. Sebrina Barnett’s 10-year-old daughter told her mother Thinx Inc. underwear was more convenient and comfortable than pads and tampons. But Ms. Barnett, after learning of the settlement last week, is no longer on board.

An Arkansas man who was photographed on Jan. 6 with his feet on a desk in then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office took the witness stand at his criminal trial Thursday and said he regretted his actions during the attack on the Capitol. “I shouldn’t have put my feet on the desk,” Richard "Bigo" Barnett told jurors while testifying in his own defense on riot-related felony charges. Barnett testified that going inside the building was “against his instinct” and compared the experience to being in a dream. Barnett also told jurors that he hadn't intentionally sought out Pelosi's office. He said he did not realize it was Pelosi’s office until he picked up an envelope with her name on it, which he said he did out of curiosity.

When construction topped out at New York’s Central Park Tower, the Billionaires’ Row mega-tower set a record for the world’s tallest residential condominium, at 1,550 feet high. Now, developer Gary Barnett is gunning for yet another record, aiming to achieve the country’s highest-ever home sale price. Mr. Barnett’s Extell Development is asking for $250 million for the building’s penthouse, a triplex positioned at a height of more than 1,400 feet. The listing is the most expensive in the U.S., according to the listings website Zillow, topping the $225 million listing for Michael Eisner’s California estate.
